Press release date: May 3, 2019

Microchip ATSAME70 CAN FD Software Driver

May 3, 2019, Terre Haute, IN – Simma Software, Inc. announced today the release of a high-performance CAN FD device driver for the Microchip SAME70 series of microcontrollers. The release of this CAN driver adds to the growing list of supported microcontrollers that are used in conjunction with the major CAN protocols including J1939, ISO 15765, UDS, CANopen, and NMEA 2000.

The Microchip SAME70 devices are members of a flash microcontrollers family based on the high-performance 32-bit ARM Cortex-M7 processor with Floating Point Unit (FPU). The SAME70 series supports CAN FD (flexible data-rate) via the Bosch M_CAN controller. CAN FD allows data transmission faster than 1 Mbit/s and the data field payload increased up to 64 bytes.

Simma Software has a long history of supporting microcontrollers from all the various MCU families designed by Microchip. As a member of the Microchip Design Partner Program, the firm continues to expand their list of supported processors to meet the needs of customers who are using Microchip microcontrollers in their CAN related projects.
