Texas Instruments TMS320F2838x CAN FD Software Driver
July 30, 2019, Terre Haute, IN – Simma Software, Inc. announced today the release of a high-performance CAN FD device driver for the Texas Instruments TMS320F2838x series of microcontrollers. The release of this CAN driver adds to the expanding list of supported microcontrollers that are used in conjunction with the major CAN protocols including J1939, ISO 15765, UDS, CANopen, and NMEA 2000.
The F2838x family supports a dual-core C28x architecture along with the Connectivity Manager subsystem based on the Cortex-M4 CPU. This subsystem has access to advanced communication IPs including CAN FD (flexible data-rate) via the Bosch M_CAN controller. CAN FD allows data transmission faster than 1 Mbit/s and increases the maximum data field payload to 64 bytes.
As Texas Instruments’ preferred CAN solutions provider to their global customer base, Simma Software has a long history of working with the C2000 32-bit microcontrollers. The firm continues to work closely with the C2000 team as well as other MCU teams within TI to ensure CAN and CAN FD support for newly released microcontrollers.
