Simma Software Adds Support for NMEA2000 Protocol

January 10, 2013, Terre Haute, IN – Simma Software, Inc. announced today the release of their new high-performance NMEA2000 protocol stack. This new protocol stack is platform independent software that provides unprecedented performance when combined with Simma Software’s CAN device drivers. The firm supports over 45 different CAN ports from various chip manufacturers.

The protocol stack was designed for use in the marine industry. It is used in various marine electronic devices including GPS receivers, auto pilot, wind instruments, depth sounders, navigation instruments, engine instruments, and nautical chart plotters. NMEA2000 is based on the SAE J1939 protocol, which is also supported by Simma Software.
